In this article, we are going to see how regular verbs in Spanish Imperfect tense are conjugated.

The Spanish Imperfect (Pretérito Imperfecto) is used to describe habits or routines in the past. Usually they are actions that were not completed or that were in progress in the past. It is also used to make descriptions in the past or to show politeness at the moment of speaking.

As you know, Spanish verbs are conjugated depending on their endings (-ar, –er, –ir). The Spanish Imperfect tense has the same endings for the verbs ending in –er and –ir.

Imperfect –Ar Verbs

You can form the Spanish Imperfect tense by removing –ar and adding the following endings.

Imperfect –Er and –Ir Verbs

The Spanish Imperfect endings for –er and –ir verbs are the same. You simply need to drop the –er or –ir and add the following endings.
